There is a popular belief that the land in which the tooth is housed would flourish and due to this there was a severe competition among the kings and wars ensued killing scores of people. This tooth was originally with the Kalinga Kings and after several wars it had finally landed in SriLanka.It is still unclear if the story is a period film set in the 500 BC, when it had happened or it would be interwoven with the present day situation.
